Podcamp Montreal – 100% Praized

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Montreal was recently the host of its first Podcamp event this past weekend and it was a HUGE success!

Podcamps are described as “a usually free BarCamp-style community Unconference for new media enthusiasts and professionals…”

The tone of the Montreal Podcamp was very much in the spirit of community  as many presenters spoke of the need to use social media tools for good and for sharing knowledge (something very close to Praized’s heart).

If you are interested in viewing some of the presentations from Podcamp Montreal, please visit their ustream page where you can find recorded sessions such as:

Julien Smith (blogger/ podcaster/ soon to be author) did a very animated and Mario Bros. inspired presentation titled: “The Game of Trust – Using Social Media to Level Up”

Eden Spodek (from the awesome Bargainista shoping blog) and Connie Crosby (law librarian & social media consultant) gave a great session explaining the development and production of the Community Divas podcast

Sylvain Grandmaison (content crafter at Fono and creator of the podcast: le Québec en Baladodiffusion) delivered a plea to “Please Don’t Suck” which informed us all on how to produce content that well.. doesn’t suck!

Kim Vallee (style-maven blogress for At Home with Kim Vallee) spoke all about “How to Better Serve the Woman Market Through Social Tools” and provided insight on how the female marketing is rapidly embracing social networking tools (all with some remarkable statistics demonstrating this)

Mitch Joel (President of Twist Image, blogger and podcaster) & CC Chapman (“filmmaker, podcaster, father and all around web-freak”), delivered it with their presentation on “Podcasting From The Heart – The Value Of Recording A Show With No Editing And No Second Takes”

Praized’s own Sylvain Carle did a rockin’ presentation (complete with Jim Morisson theme music) on the topic of Why the Future is Always Too Far (Technologically Speaking) : 10 Tech Trends You Need To Understand As Social Media Masters

Much “Praize” goes out to the organizers of Podcamp Montreal: Sylvain Grand’Maison, Laurent LaSalle, Michelle Sullivan, Julien Smith, Bob Goyetche, Mitch Joel, Jean-François BlaisLaurent Maisonnave, Hugh McGuire and Harold Boeck. You all did such a great job at producing this event.
