Praized is ’scouted’ by Appscout (PC Magazine)

Appscout – a blog written by the fine editors and analysts of PC Magazine reviewed the Praized application and made us blush with their positive and insightful comments.  They really understand the potential of our product.

Praized is a Web service designed to help you find local places, activities, or events of interest and then rate them up if they’re worthwhile or down if they’re not.”

“Praized sounds a lot like Digg and other social media services that allow communities to boost items or bury them, but Praized goes a little further. The service allows individual blog, Web site, and Web community owners to use Praized’s framework to rank anything of interest to them.”(…)

“Praized wants to bring these features to individual communities and allow blog or Web site owners to harness the power of their readers (a.k.a. their “Tribe”) to rate events, restaurants, clubs, hotels, locales, Web sites, and anything else that might interest them. Praized’s granularity is what makes it so special; the service is designed to integrate seamlessly with blogs, forums, and other Web sites to give that site or community a way to submit items of interest and give the community an easy way to rate them.”(…)

“Praized’s developers intended the service to be used by, for example, a local restaurant blog to allow its users to submit and rate their favorite restaurants, or a local book club’s site where the readers can post their favorite independent bookstores and either “Praize” or “Raze” them. Praized offers itself to bloggers and site owners in the form of a plug-in for their favorite blogging platform, a Facebook app, or an open API that developers can use to work the service into their own site.”

“The combination of community-sourced local search and social ratings makes for a strong combination that owners of community or niche-based sites will likely find extremely useful. If you’re curious how the service can work for you but want to see some examples, Praized shows off several of its popular local search and rating locations on the Praized Hub.”

We’re thrilled that Appscout stalked us as a “killer app” but really don’t want to see anyone get hurt. Aside from being addictive, Praized really is helpful and kind.
