Today, we’re very happy to launch our latest product:  TwitArea. This new Twitter.com application allows users to easily insert and share local place information when tweeting. Think of it as “TwitPic for places”.

Using it is super easy!

1) Download and install the Firefox add-on (don’t forget to restart your browser after installing)

2) An “insert place” button now appears underneath your Twitter.com text box

3) Clicking on the button pulls up our local search engine which includes more than 16 million US & Canadian place listings. Find the place you’re looking for and click Tweet This!

4) Bingo! The place name along with a unique and short URL link appears in your tweet! It links to a place page on TwitArea.com containing detailed place contact information, location on a map, and even other users’ votes and comments!

Possible usage scenarios:

1. Answering a local question from a friend



2. Confirming a place with a friend



3. Stating where you’re going or where you’re currently located



4. Sharing feedback on local merchants with the Twitter community
